OOSAR Rescues Skiers on Baldy Mountain in Separate Searches
On Saturday of January 3rd, the Oliver/Osoyoos Search and Rescue team, based in Okanagan B.C. came to the rescued for three skiers in separate searches in Baldy Mountain where in the first rescue, two skiers were stranded after going out of bounds and needed to be rescued and the second rescue, a lost skier was rescue in the same area as the previous rescue.
Search and rescue volunteers reminded skiers to stay in-bounds and to always be fully prepared with proper gear, warm layers and a working communication device in the backcountry. Read more here
Great work to the OOSAR for their back-to-back rescues of the skiers, as we hope this is a lesson for anyone who is are avid skier, snowboarder, etc. is to come prepared with appropriate snow gear and equipment. As always, please be safe out there, everyone!
