Unprepared Hikers Could Face A Heft Bill When Traveling To White Mountains

If you are an avid hiker living in New Hampshire and are planning to visit the White Mountains, you could face a large bill of up to $5,000 if you are unprepared.

“If you forget that outer heavy layer, we’re not going to bill you for it,” Jordan said. “If you don’t have any equipment or any knowledge of what you’re doing and you created a situation where everybody had to be put at risk to come and get you, then that is something that we’re going to bill for.” Read more here

With many injuries and people getting lost, I think this is a wake-up call for hikers who are unprepared. I believe this will help them learn their lesson to always come prepared when not only traveling to the White Mountains, but anywhere across the state. With the recent deaths of three hikers on Mt. Baldy and many hikers getting stranded, I think it will help others who plan on hiking to come prepared. If you are not so sure of what to pack, please do your thorough research, so you know what to bring, you know what to wear, and also so you can avoid that hefty bill if you ever get lost(for those who live in N.H.!)
