Summit County Rescue Group Rescues Hiker At Quandary Peak
The Summit County Rescue Group team rescued a hiker who got stuck on Quandary Peak after he came unprepared while hiking at night.
The situation involved a solo hiker who had set out to summit the mountain at night. Risks of frigid nighttime winter temperatures aside, the hiker didn’t bring a headlamp or flashlight along for the excursion, instead opting to use his phone to guide the way. Read more here

This is a reminder that anyone wanting to hike at night should always bring a flashlight or headlamp, especially if you are hiking up at 14,000 ft. summit. Other than bringing a source of light to your hiking trip, please make sure to pack an emergency bag full of essentials such as a warm blanket, water bottle, compass, etc., in case you get lost.
