Lost Father and Son Rescued After Surviving With A Backpack
Over the weekend, the Washington County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue team rescued a father and son duo after they both went hiking up the Red Mountain Trail. They were supposed to end their hiking destination at Ivin's exit, but they never showed up. As they were waiting for SAR teams to rescue them, they survived with a backpack filled with emergency essentionals that was left by another hiker last month.
The boy and father found the pack and were able to use its supplies to stay the night despite it being 30 degrees. Read more here
Great work to all the SAR volunteers for miraculously rescuing the father and son. We're thankful they were not harmed. They were also lucky enough to find the emergency essentials bag left by another fellow hiker last month while waiting for the rescue team to arrive. As always, please be safe out there!
