Two Hikers Rescued in Bankhead National Forest
On Monday morning, the SAR teams in Lawrence County and other volunteers rescued two hikers who had been missing since Sunday afternoon while out hiking with friends near the waterfalls of Bankhead National Forest and were due to meet back with the group, but the two were not able to reach out to them.
The hikers’ vehicle was located at around 9:54 p.m. on Sunday near the Sipsey Picnic Area by deputies from the Winston County Sheriff’s Office and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office. Read more here

This is a reminder to let your group know where you are heading if you plan to go out on your own by making sure you have a plan from the start of the location to the end of the location.
