Hiker Rescued After Being Stranded on Wellsville Mountains
A 45-year-old man was rescued by the SAR teams after he hiked alone to Deep Canyon Trailhead and somehow got stranded on top of Wellsville Mountains on Sunday.
The hiker thought he was above Cold Water Lake but was actually above Maple Rise. The area is very steep, with thick brush and trees. Read more here
Great work to the SAR teams for rescuing the 45-year-old man. According to the article, law enforcement encourages people to not hike alone as going with someone or a group will be a safe idea just so you won't get lost. To add my own suggestion, also bring a cell phone with you just in case someone in your group gets lost, especially if you have the SOS feature on the iPhone. Please be safe out there!
